Composing new messages

There are three ways to start the message composer. The first one is from within the project popup menu

The second way is from within the project dashboard in the top of the screen:

The third way is via the content calendar. By clicking on a day a small popup will open where you have to choose a project. After you've chosen the project the message composer will open.

Follow the next steps when you're composing a message:

  1. Choose the network. The composer only shows the networks you've added to the chosen project. If you have more than one of the same channels, e.g. two or more Facebook channels, in the same project, MI will publish the post on all the connected channels.
  2. With some channels, you can also choose the type of message. Facebook, for instance, has picture posts, video posts, status updates, carousel posts, and multi picture posts. You can choose the message type below the channel.
  3. In some cases, you can also choose gating and targeting for the publication. Check with your admin if gating and targeting are required for the brand(s) you're working in or if you want help with targeting and gating, contact us via support@mediainjection.com.
Don't forget to click the 'Add targeting' button down the targeting list.

  4. Choose whether you want to use an attachment. In the composer, you will see the attachments that are already in the media library. You can also choose to add a new attachment from within the composer by clicking on the 'plus' button. Link posts can be fully customized to your wishes. So you can choose the picture, link, link title and link description. In case you want to create a link post, choose 'status update' as the message type.
  5. Type your message in the message box. Next to the message box, you'll see a preview of your post. Any tag, link or emoji will be shown in the preview as it will be shown in the channel. To tag people/companies simply put a @ in the comment box and slowly start typing the name of the person/company you want to tag. A drop down menu will open with all the options. The preview will show a clickable tag, so you can check if it's the right person/page. MI has an automatic link shortener. If you put a link in your post with http:// in front of it, the link will automatically be shortened. You can also get a branded shortener. This article explains how. Any link without http:// will be shown as the actual link. Do note that we can't measure the link clicks on links that aren't shortened by MI.
Last, if you want an emoji in your message, just type a colon and search for the wanted emoji. You can also check this website for all the codes for the different emojis. A message with a link, tag and emoji will look like this:Tag__link__smiley.png
As you may know, Twitter has a maximum of 140 characters in a message. When choosing Twitter as channel, a character counter will automatically appear. Just like on Twitter, pictures aren't counted along anymore.
  6. Once you're done with a message you have to click 'Add message to publication'. This will put the publication on the publication list. You can either choose to publish the one post or create another post you want to publish at the same time. Once you're done with your post(s) and added them to publication, you can choose to save the message as a draft or publish it.
  7. For Facebook there's one extra thing you can choose to do and that is to place the message in the Facebook queue. This is only possible for posts that are planned in the future. This way you can easily plan posts for in the future and also set up your advertising for these posts. Speaking of saving time!
Do note: there's a bit of a workaround for editing messages that have been put in the Facebook queue. you can read all about that here.

Both drafts as published posts will be shown in the content calendar.
